Final Thoughts about Sheezy

Tue Feb 22, 2005, 3:55 AM
I posted this as a reply to a forum thread at Sheezyart about their "new" TOS... which is just as confusing as the old TOS and even more restrictive than before... Yes, Sheezy went from XXX to PG-13 to G-13 in less than two months. Spencer, the fabu admin who seems to be a hateful, snide little bastard of an admin, was being mist unkind, so I wrote this as a reply... anyone else agree with me?

...I also have made good suggestions here(sheezy), trying to save a community I felt deeply for, only to see evidence that the owners and administration did not really want to maintain the original idea of this gallery space.

Most of the artists I watched (t)here did do mature art now and then. Some created pornographic images as well. These images were usually marked explicit, and thus the casual browser or underage member should not have been able to see them. This point was important; reasonable measures were taken to help preserve the "safety" of the minors on this site, under the letter of the law.

I understand that the web-host demanded the removal of the Explicit work. This is also reasonable under the TOS between the owners of Sheezy and the web-host. However...

When the mention of making a sister site for the storage and viewing of the explicit work was mentioned, there was no reply. In less than three minutes, I found literally dozens of web-hosts who would have allowed Sheezy to post such work at fairly reasonable rates, though they would have banners in many instances. This after we members were told that adult-art friendly sites were nearly impossible to find.

Also we heard that the owners of Sheezy are locked into a contract with their web-host. One wonders how long a contract it was, how MINORS still in high school were unable to remove themselves from said contract, and how these same minors even were allowed to enter this contract in the first place. You see, the law provides immense protection for any minor who foolishly signs any contract, and the contract holder is out of luck there.

In any case, It is one of many willful, or uncaring avoidances of something many if not most of the members were desperate for; the continuance of freedom of expression they found with your site.

I am firmly of the belief, now that I’ve thought about and watched all this turmoil that the owners of Sheezy art never intended to maintain the "mature" art in their servers. I am certain that Sheezy was created simply to show up deviantArt and/or other gallery sites what the various admins were dissatisfied with. They knowingly broke TOS with their web-host, not caring what the fall out would be until money was involved. I believe that one admin in particular really enjoyed the change from XXX to G-13; certainly his comments and attitude throughout this process is less than mature or even intelligent.

I mourn the loss of a close, thriving COMMUNITY, which is what this place was. Are you happy with the loss of active members, Spencer? Are you happy that you have barely 200 active members on at any given time of the day or night, ChannelCat? Are you proud of your lack of concern for the people who trusted and believed in you?

The community is lost to us, most of the artists gone to dozens of new and established galleries all over the net. I for one and angry, bitterly so, about the death of SheezyArt. I am ashamed I ever told anyone to come here with me. Those people trusted me because I trusted you. You made a liar out of me, and I resent it deeply…

I bet Spencer laughs and laughs when he sees this...

Yeah. I meant every word too...

So, kiddies. I am wondering how many of you still go to Sheezy, and feel safe and welcome there? I cant poll, but I want to hear from you anyway, please...

Yes, you have a point and I agree with you.

I'm still there since I have no future here because I can't submit my wallpapers... I don't create any mature/adult thingies so I feel good on Sheezy at least for now. Hope it won't change...

I agree!! I'm not at Sheezy but I ahve gone there to view some wonder "mature art" & it's a pity it's been closed. Now where am I supposed to go to view the naughty stuff form thew fabulousartist that can't post it here?

Otherwise I dunno, where is everyone else going?

Have a mouth as sharp as a dagger, but a heart as soft as tofu
I loved Sheezy... in the "good old days". the community and people there... it really felt like home...
After the big "adult art massacre", all the broken promises and especially the way the admins acted so unmature, I think almost everyone felt betrayed... after that the only reason I stayed this long were couble of friends who I dont see anywhere else...
so the answer to your question: I have no reason (or desire) going there anymore... too much shit... bah

Labels? Okay, fine. I'm bisensual. Heteroflexible. And life-curious. That about covers it.
